Handmade Yarn Neckpiece

03 July

Hi everyone!

Today I have a quick do-it yourself Necklace made from wool using simple six-strand braiding method.
I’ve used burnt orange and off white coloured wool in this tutorial to give it an autumn look. You may use different colours or single colour according to your need. I've named all six strands (A,B,C,D,E,F) to make it easy to understand.

Let’s get started!

You’ll need:
Wool
Connector
Hook
Masking tape
Chain
Thread
Fabric glue

Procedure:
  • Choose the colours and knot them as shown in the image below. Use 5-6 woolen strands in one knotted strand.

  • Tape it to a still surface like wood or to the floor if you don' have any wooden board.

  • Now start braiding with first and last strand ie. A and F, cross them as shown in the below.

  • Now pull strand B and C forward ie. above A as shown in the image below.

  • Now pull strand E forward as shown in the first image below then pull strand B like shown in the second image below.

  • All you have to do is pull the outer strands and braid. Watch the video for the reference.

  • If you still face problem refer to image below the video which found on Fab Art Diy.

  • When you reach the end knot a white thread (you can use any colour) and roll it around tightly, then take a strand of off white wool and fold it as shown in the image below and start wraping around and paste it with fabric glue.

  • Now attach the connectors, chain and hook as shown in the image.

Autumn inspired wool necklace is ready
